Podcast sites

In addition to national mainstream media outreach, can we also focus on public eduation/local outreach? And perhaps generate a list of these smaller outlets? I have a friend who has a podcast produced by a local NPR station on stories of illness, acciddent and recovery and she would be happy to interview someone about public health through that lens, especially if it has some individual stories. I’ve also reached out to Dan Skinner who has an Ohio focused podcast, Progress Ohio, who could interview folks about PH with an Ohio focus. His last show, I’m old, gave a shoutout to the letter from DPH. I can also provide some connections to the places that I’ve published public health history relevant to this effort (history news network, time.com’s Made By History, Nursing Clio, etc.)

    Hi Janet,

Yes, I think working with local outlets is crucial, and this is a great idea.

Feel free to add podcasts to this spreadsheet:

For the time being, until we get a better system (that will cost significant $) I want to create spreadsheets like this for all types of media contacts — one tab for podcasts, another for congressional reporters, etc. I have a start with the smallish list we used for the RFK Jr. release and want to add to it, which right now is just on a Word doc because I always struggle with Excel, lol. Maybe we can just add new tabs to that podcast list. And then we should find a place it can live where all of us who need it can access it.

This one is set up in Google Docs, so anyone can edit it. I added a tab for media contacts.

Great, but to make this useful as a media contact list it needs some refinements. What’s the most effective way to recruit someone who’s good with Excel and doesn’t mind a bit of fairly tedious grunt work? Post a new thread in the group?

Seems like starting a new discussion called media contact list would be the way to go. Go ahead and include a link to this file and ask if anyone can help. Maybe ask Janet Golden directly, since she put together the original podcast spreadsheet.

Help! Make It Make Sense with Dr. Toni and Dr. Aimee is my (Aimee) podcast. We would be happy to interview members of this group to spread the word. Let us know who wants to join us for the next podcast coming up in early March.

Do you have an RSS feed for your podcast? I will add it to the site.

No but we would love to have you or someone from DPH on our podcast in the near future. We typically record on Sunday mornings (like everyone else – we work full-time and do this work on the side). Anyone interested in joining us for an hour the morning of Sunday, Feb 9? We usually meet at 9amMT (Aimee) 11amET (Toni)
